Jackpot Journal Insider: 🎰 Scam Alert! 5 Vegas Hustles to Dodge on the Strip 💰🚫

Even in the land of jackpots and jumbotrons, not everything that glitters is gold. Las Vegas may be a playground for adults, but it’s also prime real estate for professional hustlers looking to cash in on unsuspecting tourists. Here's your Jackpot Journal cheat sheet to avoid getting played while you're out trying to play.
🎭 1. Street Performer Photo Trap
That Elvis impersonator or Marvel hero might seem like a harmless photo op — until after the pic, when they demand $20+ from you, and then conveniently mention there were three of them in the shot.
Avoid it: If you snap a photo, be prepared to tip. Or just keep walking unless you're willing to pay for the pose.
🧘♂️ 2. The “Monk” Bracelet Scam
A guy in a robe approaches you with a peaceful smile and offers a “free” bracelet or Buddhist token — then suddenly wants a donation and won’t take no for an answer.
Avoid it: Don’t take anything from strangers, even if it looks free. Especially if it comes with a guilt trip.
🎟️ 3. Fake Club Promos or VIP Deals
Scammers might offer “exclusive” VIP passes or drink deals to clubs and events. Spoiler alert: these are often invalid or lead you to nowhere but disappointment.
Avoid it: Book club tables and shows through official hotel concierge desks or verified apps — not someone with a stack of flyers and a tank top on the sidewalk.
📷 4. CD Guy Gimmick
Someone hands you a "free mixtape" or custom CD , then once it's in your hands, they demand payment.
Avoid it: Don’t take the CD. Don’t engage. Just hit them with your best poker face and walk.
🕵️♂️ 5. Three-Card Monte / Shell Game
You’ll see a crowd forming around a sidewalk table with someone flipping cards or cups. It looks easy to win — especially since a few "winners" (a.k.a. plants) just did. But it's rigged.
Avoid it: Every. Single. Time. These games are straight-up scams and technically illegal.
If someone approaches you first in Vegas, odds are they want something, not giving something. Keep your wallet in your front pocket, your drink in sight, and your street smarts on max bet.
Stay sharp, stay lucky, and save your cash for the real games! 💸🎰🃏
